Administration on Autopilot, Aspirants on the Road: Appointment of Observers Rubs Salt in Wounds of JKAS Age Relaxation Candidates
Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Government’s recent directive to appoint 51 senior officers as Observers for the upcoming JKAS Preliminary Examination 2025 has been met not with relief, but with sharp criticism and despair by the aspirants who seek age relaxation.
While the General Administration Department (GAD) views Government Order No. 1729-JK(GAD) of 2025 as a standard procedural step to ensure transparency, thousands of aggrieved candidates view it as the final nail in the coffin for their legitimate demands. By mobilizing the administrative machinery for a December 7th exam date, the government has sent a clear, uncompromising message: there will be no postponement, and there will be no age relaxation.
Key Details of the Order
The General Administration Department has tasked these 51 officers with overseeing the examination process across various designated centers in the Union Territory. The deployment aims to maintain the highest standards of fairness and transparency for the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) Prelims, which serves as the gateway to the J&K Administrative Service (JKAS), J&K Police Service (JKPS), and J&K Accounts Service (JKAS).
The appointed observers are drawn from various departments and are expected to monitor the examination centers closely, ensuring that all standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) are strictly adhered to.
Exam Schedule and Significance
The JKAS Preliminary Examination 2025 is scheduled to be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025. This exam is highly anticipated by thousands of aspirants across the region who are vying for gazetted posts in the J&K administration.
Additional Measures
This appointment follows a broader mobilization of administrative machinery to support the JKPSC. In a related development, the government has also deputed 82 additional employees to assist with the logistical and administrative duties required for the smooth execution of the preliminary exam.
Instructions for Observers
According to the order, the appointed Observers have been directed to report to their respective examination centers well in advance. They will act as the eyes and ears of the administration, reporting directly on the conduct of the exam and handling any on-ground exigencies that may arise during the two sessions of the Preliminary test.
With admit cards already released and administrative preparations in the final stages, the stage is set for a smooth conduct of the JKAS 2025 Preliminary Examination this weekend.
